Freezing macro
How quickly weather can change in Great Britain. Now, it’s around 10C with the threat of showers thanks to prevailing and mild Atlantic systems. Just last week even in west London, the temperature barely reached above freezing and the urban landscape was caked in snow.
I wrapped up warm with the intention of taking some close-up shots. Plants, cars, motorbike headlamps, garden walls and even discarded Christmas trees were found by my lens. The only problem was it was so chilly that keeping a steady hand for these photographs was not easy.

Great shots. The snow and ice add a really interesting perspective to what may otherwise be quite run of the mill subjects, and you captured that really well.

Beautiful selection of shots, love the crisp sharp snow flakes! And the 3×3 matrix works well.

Thanks very much, Andy! Yes, I’m becoming fond of the tiled gallery, though it doesn’t always work so well. I feel that viewers might be less likely to dive in and enjoy the carousel.

These are pretty, especially the blue one where one can discern an individual snowflake in all its beautiful symmetry.

Thank you Rachael. Yes, I didn’t notice the snow crystal at the time (I was shivering too much!) I believe it was the wrong ‘type’ of snow for this – very grainy, more like dandruff.
