British sea power
A bracing day on England’s south-east coast. Bright skies, brilliant sunshine cut deep with November chill.
The sea is tempestuous, bringing brown waves crashing onto Whitstable beach and throwing white spray against the sturdy groynes.
My instinct is to get as close as possible. The camera lens becomes flecked with salt as I capture some of this invigorating power, which reaches out to me as well. It is a world far away from the city’s enclosure.

I have to agree with you Mike getting up close and personal with the roaring waves and the sea spray is part of the enjoyment of capturing images from the coast

James, these shots are small fry compared to your majestic coastal shots and very powerful waves, but it was quite an achievement for this soft city lad!

Smiling! Thank you but you have a style in your images that I too enjoy soaking up. Hopefully more to come “coastal”/ river/ water” Have a great evening!

Thanks James, I really appreciate that. Perhaps not water, but there’s a little bit of landscape to come this weekend… another rare treat for me.

Thank you Stella, much appreciated :-) Some people have said the sea looks dirty – I think it was churned up by a big storm.

Love the light in “sea splatter”, and the colour of the (rusty?) tops of the groynes.

Thanks Kiki, glad you like them. Apart from the wind and my salty lens, it’s easy to go slightly click-crazy with this in front of you!

Bad for camera lenses and glasses alike! Worth the effort, though.
