Mundane metalwork
Street furniture fascinates me. It’s the lines, shapes and robust functionality of these objects which fill our everyday lives and are usually passed by without a second glance.
This small selection was shot in macro and found nearby. Memorial garden benches, a dirty handrail and a fence adorned with crucifixes were found at a modern Polish Catholic church.
I also turned the camera on the metal railings outside my own house. The small, mundane things in life really do count – and have their own fascination.

Hi Andy, many thanks! And that sounds as good an excuse as any to plunder your wares from the Serbian capital :-)

I’ll go and take a look. And Belgrade is still in my thoughts as well… Budapest has reminded me what it’s like to be in other cities.

I love the worn colors and textures, everyday things with a rich past. Railings and benches make me wonder about all the people who have touched them.

A very interesting thought, Henrietta, thank you. All these inanimate objects have stories to tell – if only they could.
