Manchester sunsets
Do you prefer watching sunsets on a tropical beach or on a cold winter’s afternoon?

The tropics every time? Well here in Manchester dusk can be spectacular and seems more intense in the winter months.
These two sunsets were captured from the Deansgate-Castlefield walkway next to the tram lines, close to my home.
The area’s new high rises, a confusion of tram wires and rooftop silhouettes add more to Manchester sunset photos.
What do you think? Would you still prefer that warm beach?
Sunsets in Winter are the best. The skies are clear from pollution and heat waves.

Yes there’s definitely some science behind the perception they’re more intense in winter. And noticeably so here in Manchester.

I have some crazy sunset photos from some years ago taken on a Casio Digital camera. I will upload some and tag you :P

Casio? A blast from the past! And please do. It’s hard to tire of sunsets. As for sunrises, possibly more special as fewer people see them.

Thank you Cindy. Mother Nature did all the heavy lifting! No-one has said they’d rather be sat on a warm beach yet…

Oh I don’t know….a good sunset is magical and lying around on a beach, warm or not, is just boring 😉

And how about being on that beach to catch that sunset as opposed to the hard, cold pavements of an English metropolis? 🤔

Hmmmm. You have a point 😃😃 I’ll have to rethink my stance

However the beach sunset may not be quite as intense and colourful!

🤪🤪😂 you’re teasing me now. I guess I’ll have to take a stand one way or the other….so I’ll go for a stunning sunset on a beach, preferably with a bit of cloud to make it interesting, as long as its tropical, or will I? 😁😁 Home is best.

It’s certainly more familiar which makes it special. And equatorial sunsets are far too fast! Blink, miss out.

The best sunsets are the ones that surprise you…the ones that make you gasp when you see them.

Thank you Sreejith, they can be intense this time of year. But surely it’s better to see them in the warm weather such as many parts of India?…

You are right, here the sky is saturated with bright colors on winter evenings …

There’s some science to back up these observations. Indian winter evenings can be much milder than ours!

That’s interesting … I need to do some googling to learn more about it.
Thank you for the lead :)
