I often think of B&W flower photography as an oxymoron; it’s taking something that relies on color to exist and reducing it to monochrome. It’s almost like taking away its very essence. To do that, and still create a visually appealing photograph, is the triumph of art over life.

Thank you Earl, very well stated. I’ve always had an issue with draining colourful items of their lifeblood, but very often it can work.
