Fuerteventura: Costa Calma
My recent island travels have taken me to São Tomé e Príncipe and Cape Verde, which were all about exploration.
This time I visited Fuerteventura in Spain’s Canary Islands, where the emphasis is on sun, sand and relaxation.
I stayed at Costa Calma in the south-east of the island, settling down to days of hotel buffet meals, lounging around and sunset wanders.
But there was photography too, capturing the essence of this popular destination.
Would you like to kick back and take it easy here?

Hi Mike, I’m from the Canary Islands. Fuerteventura is the only one of our eight islands that honestly doesn’t relax me. The pictures are stunning and make me want to travel there, but I prefer Lanzarote, El Hierro or La Palma.
Please allow me one last thing. Costa Calma does not belong to Las Palmas but to Gran Canaria, the island. Las Palmas is the capital.
A hug from Tenerife. 💜

Hello back to Tenerife and thanks for getting in touch. Ah interesting… Fuerteventura is the only Canary Island I’ve visited. This trip wasn’t my usual kind of vacation but I liked Costa Calma.
Oh yes as for the map/location settings it always defaults to Las Palmas. I have no idea why!
