Here’s a complaint about Manchester city centre. There just aren’t enough decent green spaces – lungs for the metropolis.
But if you board a tram south to East Didsbury and take a leisurely stroll of around 15 minutes, you will find Fletcher Moss Park.
On a July visit when the weather had turned more unsettled, I was enthralled by the flowers in the botanical garden, woodlands and the park’s tree-lined avenue.
Who said that Manchester doesn’t have any of nature’s green havens!

The downside to development I’m afraid , Mr Osborn. The challenge is to get those in charge to reclaim unused brownfield sites and get them used in a more environmentally friendly way.

It’s very true. In Manchester these sites aren’t being turned into areas of greenery but new skyscrapers which are springing up at an alarming rate.

What a lovely way to spend the day. Love the macro shots. Do you use a tripod, Mike? They are so sharp with such a narrow DOF.

Ah thanks Lee, glad you like them. I really should do but it’s more a case of anchoring myself as best I can and breathing in just before pressing the shutter!

Thanks Lee, they don’t always work out! The tripod only makes mandatory appearances for long exposure shots.
